You will learn how to look for this information in the next section.

How To Reveal Prior Crimes & Arrest Details in Osceola County Florida

Criminal records can provide you with detailed information about whether a person was previously arrested and convicted of a crime.

To search for this type of information, you can conduct a search with the Osceola County Clerk’s Case Search Tool. This tool can be utilized to conduct an online search by a criminal’s name, case or citation number.

This tool does not allow you to enter any filters or search parameters to focus on criminal cases. As a result, you may have to search through the results page to find the case you are seeking. The results will provide the person’s name, party type, case number and status.

To determine if it’s a criminal case, you have a couple of options. First, the case number can let you know the type of case. For instance, after the year number “MM” indicates a misdemeanor while “CF” is for a felony.

Another option is to click on the “+” icon for any listed record. Here, you can view a summary of the case, including whether or not it is a criminal matter.

In this section, you can also view a description of the type of charges brought against a person, the offense date, the arresting agency and the judge. You can also view any fees associated with the case that are due and the defendant’s current custody location, if applicable. When you click on “view case,” you can see the entire criminal record for that particular case.

The entire criminal record starts off with a summary section that contains similar information already discussed. Below the summary are several different sections with additional information about the case. The parties section contains information about the individual and the attorneys in the case.

Below that is the charges section. Here, you can find a description of each charge along with the level and degree of offense. Here, you can also view the plea, disposition (i.e., how the case was decided) and the date this occurred.

In the events section, you will see a chronological list of all hearings, the judge involved, location and the result. The following two sections, outstanding amount and receipts, deal with fines and court costs.

The last section of the criminal record is the case dockets. This section also provides a chronological listing of all court events and filings. For those documents that are available, you can click on the image icon to view a PDF copy of the document.

You can also request prior crime and arrest information from the court through other means. In Osceola County, there are two separate courts that handle criminal matters depending on the type of case.

The District Court handles all felony cases (those with a potential sentence greater than a year), and the Osceola County Court is responsible for less serious criminal cases referred to as felonies.8

While it’s helpful to know what court has handled a particular criminal case you are seeking, for either, you can begin your search by contacting the Osceola County Clerk of Court.9

In some instances, you can search for criminal information with city municipal courts. In Osceola, criminal records start at the county level. That being said, you can broaden your search to access criminal records throughout the state of Florida.

To find criminal records throughout the state, you can search with the Florida Department of Corrections (DOC) Inmate Search Tool. This tool can be used to search for people who are still in custody and those who have been released. When ready to conduct a search, enter either the person’s department of corrections number or name.

If necessary, you can search by an offender’s alias as well.

Once you enter this information, you can choose which Florida DOC database to look through. The available Florida DOC databases include fugitives, those under probation or parole, released inmates and those currently incarcerated. You can look through all four databases, but you can only search one at a time.

Once you select a database, you will go to the results page, where you can view the person’s name, sex, race and date of birth. Also listed will be the person’s DOC number and either their current facility or the date they were released.

How To Contact a Bail Bondsman or Post Bail for Someone Arrested in Osceola County

If you find out that someone you know has been arrested, you may be curious as to how you can post bail for someone or assist them with this process. How you choose to assist a person will likely depend on how high the bail is set, your assets and the likelihood that the defendant is a flight risk.

Before you make a decision, consider the pros and cons of the two general options for posting bail:

Post bail With Your Own Assets: The self-bail process is when you post a person’s bail amount with a bond using your own assets. Depending on the bail amount and the type of assets you have, you can consider posting the bond in cash or with your property as collateral.

If the person attends their criminal hearing, then you will receive 100% of your bond back. However, you stand to potentially lose the entire bond amount if the defendant does not make it to their hearing.

Use a Bail Bondsman: The safer but sometimes expensive option is to use a bail bondsman. While there is no risk if the person does not show up for their hearing, you will be paying a substantial fee for this service that is not refundable. Typically, the fee for using a bail bondsman is 10% of the bail amount.

After that fee is paid, the bondsman will take care of the rest.

If you decide to post the bail yourself, there is an online bond payment option with the Osceola County Corrections.11 For other options, you can contact the Osceola County Corrections by phone at 407-742-4444 or by going to the address below:
